Delivery Revenue vs Cost Calculator

Do you know how much it costs you to run your van every month? We asked ourselves this very question at Flowers by Nattrass last week, and realised we didn’t actually know the answer.

We know how much we charge for deliveries, and we can easily run a report on Strelitzia to see how much delivery charge revenue we’re gaining every month, but how does this figure compare with the outgoings connected to running our van?

She’s created a Delivery Revenue vs Cost Calculator that allows you to log your revenue taken on delivery charges, and takes this figure away from the monthly cost of running your van. And the result? The average delivery cost needed per order to break even.

We did this for Flowers by Nattrass and our Delivery Calculator showed us we needed to be charging £6.62 per delivery to break even on our local deliveries. We charge £5.50, so we’re actually making a loss. Time to change that!!

As we are all well aware, the cost of petrol and diesel has sky rocketed. Never did I think I’d drive past a pump showing £1.60 per litre and do a very quick U-turn to fill the van to the brim.

Consumers are aware of this rise, and you shouldn’t be afraid of passing this cost onto them. If the florist down the road doesn’t charge for delivery, let them get on with it. Chances are, they won’t be here this time next year.

With Strelitzia’s new Strelitzia Go feature, you can save money on your deliveries by making sure the process is as efficient as possible.

We worked out that if Strelitzia Go saves you just over 3 miles on your delivery route, it pays for itself. This is based on a Vivaro van doing 47mpg = £0.20p per mile in fuel costs. Strelitzia Go = £0.65p per day.
