Mark and Sally Bennett, directors of Strelitzia Software are also owners of Flowers By Nattrass a well established florist business in Darlington, County Durham and Strelitzia Software was born almost accidentally from their search for management software for their florist business. Together with Steve Gray, a software developer, then running Computer Craft of Stackton, they formed Strelitzia Software to develop, support and sell software to professional florists. Steve’s famous words at the beginning in 2005 were “I can build something better than this” referring to the existing choices of software available to the florist and he certainly came up with the goods!
After 18 months of development, Flowers By Nattrass finally tested the Strelitzia system in February 2006 and then in July 2006 Neil Whittaker and Anthony Williams of The Design Element in Iram became our second guinea pig florists and trialled the software. Finally in October 2006 Strelitzia Software was born with it’s three directors, Mark and Sally Bennett and Steve Gray being helped by Judith Ramsden on sales and support.
Strelitzia Software is now helping to run hundreds of florist businesses throughout the UK, some tiny one shop businesses and others multi shop chains and everything in between. We have continuously developed the software listening to client feedback and suggestions and we believe that it is now the most comprehensive florist software that is available not only in the UK but also in Europe.
Our most recent development has been to automatically link the Interflora Rose Gold and e-florist relay systems to the Strelitzia software so orders are automatically passed in and out from Strelitzia to the relay provider and vice versa. We have plans to further develop the marketing package and also to develop a wedding order taking package in the future.
2011 promises to be an exciting time for Strelitzia Software with interest from European florists and we are now in the process of translating the software into several European languages.
Our expertise in the floristry business and software development has certainly proved to be a winning combination with Strelitzia Software at the leading edge of technology in the florist industry.
