This week we took a journey to Yorkshire to find out a little more from one of our florists with another interesting story to tell. Erica Berry has been a florist her entire career, and we chatted with both Erica and her Marketing Manager Katherine Rigby-Jones to find out more about Erica Berry Flowers.
“I am the owner of Erica Berry Flowers, so I run the business as well as doing floristry and training my staff. I’ve been a florist my whole career, so that’s more years than I’d care to mention! I’ve always loved flowers and even as a little girl I had a patch of garden and grew flowers. I went straight from school to floristry college and have never looked back.
“I have been told my floristry style is traditional with a twist. I am however versatile and create designs to whatever style our clients require. I just love flowers and working with them, it has to be the best job in the world. Oh and of course we have to go to market on a morning too!
“I think my favourite part of the job is just being in the shop and creating beautiful designs. I love dealing with people and creating designs for them. I love selling flowers, I want to share such a beautiful product with everybody and love it when they appreciate them.
“These days social media is very important and I want to utilise those platforms as best as possible. I have a dedicated social media manager who does this for me as I wanted it to be consistent, for them to be able to be reactive to posts and for us a business, to use social media to help promote other businesses we work with too.
“We have a regular blog which covers current floristry events, flower care, product launches and this gets promoted via social media.
“As for Strelitzia I wanted to be able to build a database to make sure we could market to our customers as well as we possibly could. As well as that I wanted to be able to keep a record easily of what people have ordered previously so we can offer our customers the best service possible.
“Strelitzia has certainly made things a lot easier, at the moment we are still working out how to use the system most efficiently so we can get as much as possible out of Strelitzia. Having the orders online is great for easy reference, we can go back into orders and find orders that have been placed very easily. Not all the staff are used to inputting the orders straight away onto the computer, when we can all do this, it will make the system much quicker too.
“We’re very much looking forward to the new cloud based system that should be out later this year it will make Strelitzia even easier to access and we can’t wait to see all the new features too.”
